But if you’re only chatting with it, you’re missing the point.
Here are 5 ways I use it to automate boring work:
1. Research & summarization
I don’t waste hours skimming reports anymore. gpt-5 turns 50 pages into a 2-minute actionable summary.
Helps me move fast without missing key details.
Prompt I use:
"you are my research assistant. read the following document or url and give me:
1. a 10-sentence executive summary
2. 5 key insights i should act on
3. the top 3 risks or blindspots most people might miss
4. rewrite the insights in simple, no-jargon language i can share with my team "
here you've to add the document link or the document itself (i prefer the file)
2. Content Ideation
Instead of staring at a blank page, I use GPT-5 to generate structured ideas for posts, newsletters, and scripts. What used to take me 2 hours is now a 15-minute draft.
Prompt I use:
"You are a professional ghostwriter. Generate 15 high-signal content ideas on [topic].
For each idea:
- Give me a hook line (<= 15 words, curiosity-driven)
- Outline the structure in 3 parts (hook, point, action)
- Include an example or analogy that will resonate with [audience type]
Make them practical, non-generic, and designed to spark discussion."
3. Personal Decision-Making
I run decisions through GPT-5 as if it’s my second brain. It forces me to weigh trade-offs I’d normally skip.
Prompt I use:
" I’m deciding between these 3 options: [option a], [option b], [option c].
act like my strategic advisor.
for each option, give me:
- 3 long-term benefits
- 3 short-term drawbacks
- hidden costs or risks most people overlook
- which you’d choose if optimizing for [goal: time, money, growth, learning, etc.]
present the reasoning step by step before recommending."
4. n8n Agent Builder
Whenever I need to spin up a new agent, GPT-5 acts like my co-pilot. Instead of trial and error, I get a step-by-step blueprint I can drop straight into n8n.
Prompt I use:
"You are an expert in n8n and AI agent design.
I want to build an agent that [describe function: e.g., “scrapes competitor pricing daily and posts to Slack”].
Give me:
1. The full n8n workflow with node sequence
2. Exact configurations for each node (APIs, triggers, credentials needed)
3. Any custom code I’ll need (with explanations)
4. Error handling and retry logic
5. Suggestions for scaling the agent (e.g., memory, logging, chaining with other agents)
Present it clearly so I can implement in <15 minutes."
5. Skill Development
I treat GPT-5 as a personal coach. Whether it’s coding, finance, or writing, it builds me a tailored learning path.
Prompt I use:
"You are my personalized learning coach. i want to master [skill] in 30 days.
create a learning plan with:
- daily exercises (30–60 minutes)
- one mini-project per week to apply the skill
- resources (articles, videos, books)
- checkpoints to test progress
adjust the difficulty as i improve, and explain concepts with analogies a beginner would understand."
